Your whole screen goes red before every meeting.

Notifications slide past when you're deep in work. MeetingFlash fills every display right before a meeting starts, and it stays there until you click or press a key.

brew install --cask frugoman/tap/meeting-flash

Free and open source, for macOS 14 or later. Prefer a zip? Download the app.

A soft nudge first. Then the flash.

Give each meeting as many alerts as you like, from 30 minutes before to the moment it starts. Each one has its own flash and sound.

Tink, sound only

A quiet chime. Time to finish the sentence you're writing.

Flash and Sosumi

The screen goes red and stays red until you click.

At start
Flash and gong.mp3

Your own MP3, M4A or WAV, for when you ignored the first two.

A newer alert takes over one that's still on screen. All-day, cancelled and declined events are skipped, and so are events marked Free if you want.

When the next meeting is less than an hour away, the menu bar counts down to it. The upcoming list joins Teams, Zoom, Meet and Webex calls in one click.

Sound only where it's OK.

Choose which outputs can play alerts. Pick your AirPods, and the office never hears your reminders through the laptop speakers.

Wi-Fi rules go further: no sound at all on the office network, or the MacBook speakers only at home. Paired Bluetooth headphones and speakers are listed even when they aren't connected.

Reading the Wi-Fi name needs Location access. macOS requires it.

Red by default. Any colour, or a photo.

Set the colour and how see-through it is, or fill the screen with a picture: your team, your dog, the beach you'd rather be on.

Recorded on a MacBook. Red, then violet, then a photo, each one held until a click.

Your calendar stays on your Mac.

MeetingFlash reads the calendars macOS already has: iCloud, Google, Exchange and Microsoft 365, or anything you've added under System Settings › Internet Accounts. You choose which ones it watches.

There's no account to create and no server behind it. Nothing about your meetings leaves your Mac, and there are no analytics.

It's open source under the MIT licence, so you can read every line on GitHub.

Only use the Outlook app? MeetingFlash can't see Outlook's own calendar store. Add your work account under Internet Accounts with Calendars turned on, and its meetings show up.

Install it before your next meeting.

brew install --cask frugoman/tap/meeting-flash

Then open MeetingFlash from Applications and allow calendar access. You can also download the zip; it isn't notarized, so the first launch needs a right-click and Open. Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
